Small Moments That Make Life Worth a Memory

In today's busy world we all are a part of a rat race in life, competing with each other each day. Basically we are not wrong on our part, we all have some goals in life and we work hard to achieve them. We all are chasing our dreams. The best thing in life is the when you achieve your targets, and feel satisfied.
But sometimes this process may lead to increased stress levels, our expectations from ourselves increase so much that we may run behind things which we may not need.
One day my uncle asked me: Beta, for you what is happiness?
My reply: Uncle, for me happiness is when I score first class in my engineering semesters, get placed in a good MNC with a healthy package, have a good career, my mom always stays happy with me, I should have good friends around me, and a day when I find my dream girl I would be the happiest.
He gave me a bright smile hearing my reply. He said you have good targets in life but my child tell me
"Have you ever embraced some of the happy moments in your life"?
I gave a deep thought to these question and asked myself
"Everyday of the year would I do the same thing as of what I am doing now?
We wake up, go to colleges/offices, work for a full day/study, go back home in the evening and repeat the same routine the next day. Do we smile when we get a promotion or we get a gift? Obviously, yes our happiness has become materialistic. Shower us with things and we are happy. During our sad times, we should recollect happy moments in life and always wear a bright curve on our face called smile. Let's recollect the small things which make our life beautiful.
1) Happiness begins from home, when you have achieved something and you are the reason for your parents' smile. The satisfaction of making your parents proud.

2) Happiness is that feeling when you help someone during their time of need and get their work done.
3) That amazing feeling when your friend gets some chocolates and sweets for you, or anything for you just because you like it. So overwhelming.

4) Happiness is a long walk with your friend talking about life, rather than advisors sometimes all you want in life is a good listener.
5) That awesome feeling when after a long time you find something that you had lost.
6) Happiness is when you open your childhood album, see the photos recollect the memories with a particular person and realize that "Some things never change".
7) The rocking night outs spend with your cousins, the late night prank calls, ragging each other, watching horror movies, disturbing everyone else in house and creating a havoc, suddenly we feel hungry and cooking something latenight and everyone sitting in a circle and eating food.
8) The unplanned cricket matches on Sunday morning after a long time, playing to your best with friends, hitting boundaries, taking wickets and that feeling that you can still play some good cricket.
9) When your friend goes for a shopping, doesn't like anything and suddenly you find a best outfit for her and seeing her joyful face, wow that satisfaction, can't express it.
10) After a busy day in college, you travel back home and suddenly you favorite song is being played on the radio. Wow you just forget all your tiredness and sing along.
11) When you are unwell, mom is so kind to you and cooks your favorite dish, realizing how lucky you are to have such a caring mom.
12) When you are so tensed for a next day exam, your paper goes well and you realize whatever you studied came in exam. YO, I nailed it!!
13) When you go a long and a relaxing vacation on your favorite destination, with you friends or cousins, the time spent during travelling, the food you eat, the places you visit, the time you spend, the photos you click, everything becomes a lifelong memory.
14) After a boring day, at night when you have a dinner with the whole family and talk with each other regarding the quality of the day they spent.
15) Happiness is going out on a long drive with your besties, singing songs, doing crazy things, eating street food, teasing each other, seeing new places, and last but not the least to have dinner in the best restaurant of the city.
16) Happiness is following the footsteps of your dad, idolizing him, taking each and every responsibility in his absence, living in his memories and doing everything so that he stays happy and feels proud wherever he is.
17) Happiness is a when you get a partner who is so good at understanding you. He/she can understand what you want even before you say it.
18) That awesome feeling when you travel alone by bus or train, and you get a window seat, you have your earphones plugged in playing your favorite playlist.

Hour of power statements

These are great agreement from Book of Don Miguel Ruis- The four agreements.
I started this journey to help my self to remind my self of how to have a great life and live in the moment. Sometimes we don't have the environment to support us in our journey so I found books a great companion.

I am constantly reading and improving my self and although sometimes I break the rules , i revisit the situation again and see things through again.

This is the best time of my life for me, my family and I hope I can influence even if a little to yours.

1. Don't gossip , complain or criticize.
Your world is the most powerful you have.
Use it to bring somebody up and the world will be a better place.

2. Do not take anything personally.
Imagine you are driving in the road and didn't start the car when the light was green. How people treat you is a projection of who they are and how they are feeling. You can do the same thing everyday and only some people will start screaming and swearing to you, despite beeing a nuisance to many people.

3. Don't make assumptions. When you have people working for you or with you and things did not go as you expected, learn to ask question get clarification as to the reason. Don't assume anything. I remember in one of Dr Stephen Covey books when tell the story of Once he was in the train and a father with 3 children got in. The childrens were making a real mess and the father was only staring at the floor with saying a world. At that moment Stephen got a bit tense and asked him as to did he not see that his childrens were making a mess. At that moment the father said that their young mother had just died in the hospital and he didn't know what to do either. Next time you have a story in you head ask the other person to clarify and you will be better informed.

4. Always do your best, no body abuse us more that we abuse our self.

Have a great day

I will live you with the Toastmaster championship 2015. The winner say it better than me.

Is happiness overrated?

The term “positive psychology” is often thought to be synonymous with “happiness.”
But according to Martin Seligman, widely considered the founder of the field, there’s more to positive psychology than happiness—and, more importantly, there’s more to life than happiness as well.
Martin Seligman
Seligman is featured in a New York Timescolumn today by John Tierney, exploring the limits of the concept of happiness.
Tierney reports that Seligman has come to believe that the term “happiness” is too often confused with just feeling good; instead, leading a good, truly happy life requires more than positive emotions. To truly maximize our “well-being”—or to “flourish” (the title of Seligman’s new book)—we need five crucial elements, which Seligman summarizes in an acronym he recently created, Perma: positive emotions, engagement (the feeling of being lost in a task, aka “flow”), relationships, meaning, and accomplishment.
In other words, “Well-being cannot exist just in your own head,” Seligman writes in Flourish. “Well-being is a combination of feeling good as well as actually having meaning, good relationships, and accomplishment.”

Seligman’s take on happiness and well-being really resonates with us here at Greater Good—it explains why our tagline is “The Science of a Meaningful Life” rather than, say, “The Science of Happiness.” The term “happiness” often simply implies feeling good, conjuring images of someone with a smile plastered on his face, blissfully unaware of the world around him—not really what you think of as the “greater good.”
The definition of “happiness” can seem highly subjective. And the things that might make some of us feel good in the moment aren’t necessarily the things that make life feel worth living. Lots of studies show that more money doesn’t bring more happiness—but even if it did, wouldn’t we still feel that there’s more to life than owning a second home? Or, as Tierney wonders, if life’s just about pleasure and moment-to-moment happiness, why do people have kids? He writes,
Some happiness researchers have suggested that parents delude themselves about the joys of children: They focus on the golden moments and forget the more frequent travails. But Dr. Seligman says that parents are wisely looking for more than happy feelings.
“If we just wanted positive emotions, our species would have died out a long time ago,” he says. “ We have children to pursue other elements of well-being. We want meaning in life. We want relationships.”
This doesn’t suggest that pursuing happiness is totally unimportant and irrelevant to a good life. But it does suggest that we should broader our notion of true happiness—it’s much more than momentary feelings of joy and a positive mood.

Three tips to a happy life

Who doesn't want to be happy? In fact, we all do. But, in the hullabaloo of life, we forget to live life happily and get trapped in the grasp of dismay and worries. It's not like that we don't have any way to be cheerful, when we are taken for a ride by troubling and negative thoughts. We always have a way to bounce with happiness once we are hit by unhappy thoughts. But we are so much controlled by the whirlwind of gloomy thoughts that we cannot think clearly.
This article will discuss three points that can help you become happy and cheerful in any adverse situation. These points are as follow:
Choose to be Happy
You must choose to be happy. Now, you might be thinking that what kind of advice is this and how you can choose to be happy. In fact, you can do it. Most of all can do this. In our daily life, we come across many people who don't have much in their possessions. But, still, they are happy and cheerful. Actually, happiness is not a byproduct. It is an attitude. Learn to smile in the face of difficulties.
Famous American author Ernest Hemingway said in his magnum opus 'The Old Man and The Sea',
"But man is not made for defeat. A man can be destroyed but not defeated."
Live in the state of Gratitude
One of the easiest ways to feel content is to live in the state of gratitude. You have the right to say that for what you should be grateful. We all have countless blessings that we simply ignore. We are alive. This is the biggest blessing we have. Many people on the face of the earth don't have food and shelters on their heads. When you feel your heart is sinking, just start counting your blessings. You will be relieved in no time. Form a habit of living in gratitude. This will certainly light your heart with happiness in a gloomy state.
Focus on Long-term Goals
Get attuned to your long-term goals. Most of the times, our short-term goals make us disappointed. If we focus on our long-term goals and try to achieve them, we will be more relaxed and happy. Nothing worthwhile can be achieved without hurdles. So, focus on your long-term goals and work hard to achieve them.
You should not forget that all the successful people in the world have unsuccessful past. They keep on trying and then finally met success. So, never let hurdles snatch your peace and make you restless. Be happy. It is a habit. It is an attitude. And most importantly, you owe it to yourself to be happy. Remember:
"Happiness is not something ready-made. It comes from your own actions."

I have always been fascinated by fulfilled people in all aspect of life.

There is a common missconception that this people do not exist, but i am seeing this people on my journey to improve my understading of life. To set up goals and work to reach them.

So i thought it will be a bood idea to read books of people that have studied happiness, fullfillment, what is looks like and who enjoys it.

This way I come across "The happiness Hypothesis" is written by Jonathan Haidt that teaches psychology in University of Virginia and studies positive psychology.
This are some concept and saying from this great book

Shakespeare: " There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so"
So next time you think, that world that your boss/ friend/ teacher said was bad , try to be in Shakespeare world- is only your thinking that makes it so.

Buddha said- "Our life is the creation of our mind"
Next time you come from work/ UNI or intership and say that was a terrible day, rephrase and think is it only your mind. How would you have reacted if were in a different state, like it was day before Christmas, or the day before your holidays? Was it really a bad day or are you tired and not very good to administer time and relationship and get stressed.

I was blown away by Jim Rohn teaching and expression " Don't wish it was easier, wish you were better"

This book encourage the idea of ACCEPTANCE. This idea was precticed throughout philosophy . Phylosophers counselled people to break their emotional attachment to people and events, which are always unpredictable and uncontrollable and to cultivate attitude of acceptance.

Another idea from this great book is MEDITATION that done over several months can help reduced fear, negative thoughts. BUDDHA- " When a man knows the solitude of silence, and feels the joy of quiteness, he is then free from fear and sin"

"Things won are done,  joy soul lies in the doing "- Shakespeare. Set your self for any goal, most of the pleasure will be along the way. The author has studies of people that won lottery versus people that become paraplegic ( unable to move limbs) aftre an accident. This initial reaction is completely different , but within a year the both groups returned to their level of happiness. I can hear you say WHAT??????????????????
Is what is sad to, but remember the author is not asking for approval this are studies with people and this a quick explanation.
The lottary winner buys a new house, new care, quit his job and eats better. Whithin a few months the contrast blurs and the pleasure fades. After a few months the new comforts have become the new baseline of life and sometimes the money might damage the relationships and people are harassed for their money.
On the other side a qudriplegic like Stephen Hawking said. My expectations were reduced to zero whne i wan tewnty-one. Everything since then is a bonus" This is the adaptation principle as work.

Buddha and other phylosophers a his time proposed " HAPPINESS COMES FROM WITHIN, AND IT CAN NOT BE FOUND BY MAKING THE WORLD CONFORM TO YOUR DESIRES"

The second finding after research is THAT  environmental and demographic factors influence happines very little your happiness. YESSSSSS, i did not write it wrongly.

Read this and drop a line if interested, what are your thoughts???????? do you agree and why not ??????
